I'm trying to read an encoder with 32 bits of count info. Look at

http://files.pepperl-fuchs.com/selector_files/navi/productInfo/edb/t168…

It would appear to have a total of 32 bits of count info an a "special bit" .The command reference for the DMC4080 says the the max number of bits, I think including any extra bits is 31. Application Note # 2438 makes no mention and seems to imply that the number of bits "n" is one less then the total number of bits. Application Note # 2438 also makes no mention of the max number of bits.

I also found it interesting that Application Note # 2438 mentions that negative values for p change the edge that data is clocked in on. I don't think that this is mentioned in the command reference.

Any help would be great!

Charlie

Hi Charlie,
It appears that you recently called in regarding this. In short, our standard BiSS option allows up to 31 data bits of count info. If more are needed, please contact an applications engineer to discuss the application.
