I have retrofit a daihatsu cnc lathe and i'm having trouble with my x motor losing position. I've made some test programs and when i make an arc move it tends to lose around .003 in position when the radius is 3.0. If i get rid of the rad and make straight moves then i don't lose position. Also if i lower the radius to 0.500 I don't lose position. I'm using camsoft software and have contacted them on the matter and was told it is most likely an electrical or mechanical issue. I was wondering if you had any advise. Thanks

Start at a 0 position for the 2 axes, then make your arc move (or multiple arc moves) and then command a move back to that 0 position. (You may need to ask Camsoft how to do this) If the system returns to the same position, then it is a command problem with your arc command, if it returns to an offset position (probably relative to your 0.003"), then it is a mechanical, or more likely a electrical problem. Check your encoder wiring, make sure you are not using single ended encoders, don't run your encoder wires next to your motor power wires etc.
