My question is:

How can be made a constant force with a piezo motor using an external force sensor ?

Setup:
I have a DMC-4030 controller connected to an AB5 (single axis amplifier box for driving Nanomotion Piezo-Ceramic motors), which is connected to the piezo motor HR4. I have a lineal encoder connected to the Galil and I will have a force sensor that will provide an analogic signal to the Galil.

Application:
At first I would like to set the velocity of the motor and ones the velocity selected is achieved, I would like to maintain de force set constant ( varying of course the velocity).

Question:
I have read the Application Note #2419, and that is used for the case where it is make the control of DC motor. What can I do in my particularly case (piezo motor)?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Federico,
What firmware base are you using? Do you have our ceramic firmware with out additional tuning features for piezo-ceramic motors?

Do the principles in the application note not work for your system? The loop only provides a proportional gain for closing the force loop, and we can further implement parameters if required.

At this point, it would be more application specific, so if you have additional questions regarding your application, please email support@galil.com and include "attn: Andrew" so that we can talk more about it.

Regards,
Andrew
