When having only 1-axis, will the general and autotuning (from C library) be enough? Is there a tuning program already written that is included with the Galil Utilities?

Whether the tuning methods provided in C lib. is enough depends on the system itself -- how close the system is to the ideal model built in the software. It is possible that for some systems, none of the tuning methods will work, or work perfectly. And to get optimized results, manual tuning is needed.
Unfortunately, there isn't any tuning algorithm implemented in the Galil Utility software.
