We have built a machine which we are having some trouble tuning. The problem appears to be associated with resonance of the control cconsole which is mounted of a long stiff arm.

Have found the resonant frequency of the console to be about 7Hz, so tried setting NF to 7, NB to 3 and NZ to 1. Have no real idea as to the appropriate value for NZ...

Didn't seem to have much effect, which may mean that the resonance is purely mechanical, or may mean I'm not using the notch filter correctly...

NZ/2 is the value for real part notch zero in HZ and NB/2 is the value for real part notch pole. Therefore, you can try some value of NZ=1 and NB=12 to place the notch closer to the sensitive frequency.
