I just bought a second Galil 1780 card to serve as a spare for my Camsoft CNC mill.

I installed the card and did a master reset. Then copied all the Galil settings from the original and issued the BN command. I triple verified they are all the same.

As soon as power is applied to the servo drives the X axis is unstable. It shutters a very short distance at 4 or 10 cycles per second. This cocurs both with Camsoft running or with just Galil terminal.

Change cards back and issue disappears. Do you really need different servo tune settings for different cards? or is there another issue to check?

The differences between 2 controllers should be very minimal.

Make sure the KP, KD, KI settings are the same for all 8 axes on each controller. Also, check and make sure the TM setting is the same on each controller.

Do you see this on all of the axes? Or is it just one axis that is causing the problem?

Its just the X axis. Other axis OK. I checked again, these four parameters are identical.

OK, can I ask a question for the general case?

I've seen servo shutter when the machine is just holding position before. What manual setting change can be made to damp this out? This axis has P=37 D=240 I=29.5 (these are the WSDK numbers)

It probably means your machine is a little "over-tuned". Try dropping all of the PID parameters by 5-10%.
